I know you will be delighted to hear that through the kindness of Mr. Horton Harrild, of the firm of Messrs. Harrild & Sons, Printers' Engineers, London, and of his brother, Mr. Frederick Harrild, of Orpington, Kent, I have been placed in possession of valuable material relative to the dates marking epochs in Baxter's life. Mr. Horton Harrild is a Director of the present firm of Messrs. Harrild & Sons; which no doubt you know was founded in 1809 by the late Mr. Robert Harrild, who was so closely con- nected with the Baxter family. His brother, Mr. Frederick Harrild, married a niece of the late George Baxter. ' With the other documents in my possession relative to the life of Baxter, and these authentic dates which have been taken from the late Mr. Robert Harrild's Ledgers, together with the materials made available by other writers, to whom due acknowledgment is given, I am able to send you fairly comprehensive details of Baxter's Life and Environment connected with his Art.
